About

I'm Nikki. I'm a lawyer. I love food, beach holidays, a good book, a good cook book and wide open spaces, which I can't seem to get enough of here in our sunny island city.

There are some things that will always stick in my memory, like how we had to put our pet dog to sleep last August. He was thirteen and his lungs were chokful of malignant tumours. Now every time I read or watch anything about pets being put down my mind still goes into something of a shock and I can only think of how hard it was to sit through, watch and accept that decision we made.

I am not so lucky with a lot of other memories. With a lot of things I have enjoyed, like bak chor mee on Circular Road, David Chang's superamazinglydelicious Bo Ssam at Momofuku Ssam Bar in New York City or an evening at the MoMA, I'd walk away too satisfied for words; but afterwards struggle to remember the details, and in the end can only offer to myself a "good" or "that was a nice one" as a lousy, over-simplified sum-up of those experiences.

This blog is an attempt to retrieve, recollect and reflect on those details so that hopefully, at the end of 2012, at the end of it all, I would be able to look back and say it has been awesome because...
